DOUBLE SUCCESS FOR FREEMAN IN THE ENDURO GP
Once the GP of Portugal was archived, the Beta Factory Enduro Team moved to Santiago de Compostela for the third round of the FIM Enduro GP World Championship which took place on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 May.
The city of Galicia, famous for being the final destination of the road to Santiago, has organized the Spanish GP for the second consecutive year. Also in the 2019 edition the paddock was placed in the external area of the soccer stadium Vero Boquete de San Lazaro, where were raced the SuperTest and the extreme test. While in the industrial area of Santiago de Compostela were held the Cross Test and the Enduro Test. The heavy rain that hit the Santiago de Compostela area in the previous days made the three special tests very difficult.
Defending champion Steve Holcombe won the E3 class on the first day of competition and battled until the end in the Enduro GP with another Beta rider: Brad Freeman (Beta Boano Team). At the end of a long fight, Brad Freeman took the top step of the podium while our rider Steve Holcombe won the second place.
The following day Brad Freeman once again established himself on the top of the Enduro GP, clearly dominating his opponents. After numerous consecutives GPs, Steve Holcombe has not managed to get on the podium of the Enduro GP because of a day that started and ended not in the best way for the reigning World Champion.
Even the weekend of the Chilean rider Benjamin Herrera was not one of the luckiest. In Day One his result was downgraded for a two-minute penalty while on the following day he collected a fifth place in the E2 class and an eleventh place in the Enduro GP.
Very good result for Matteo Pavoni – Beta Boano Team – who conquered the first place in the Youth class on the Day 2. This is the first world victory for the young Italian rider.
The FIM World Enduro GP Championship will stop for about a month and then move to Hellenic land where the Greek GP, the fourth round of the season, will take place in Serres on 15 and 16 June.
STEVE HOLCOMBE
«Yesterday did not go wrong, a first place in E3 and a second place in the Enduro GP. Today I tried to repeat myself but it was not possible. Now I will focus on the double GP of Greece and Italy”.
BENJAMIN HERRERA
«On the opening day I made a mistake just at the last Enduro Test where I broke the clutch lever. Unfortunately, at the end of the race and took a two-minute penalty. The Day 2 was better and I am very happy because the feeling with my bike grows from race to race «.
