X-Trial Des Nations, MXGP, and National Championships: Beta’s complete report.
One weekend. Four nations. Dozens of factory and supported riders ready to hit the track. The results from the last few days of competition speak for themselves: Beta is here, and it’s competitive on all fronts. From the historic silver medal won by Harry Hemingway at the Seville Indoor, to the important development work in the Italian Pro-Prestige series, all the way to the youth division’s dominance in the Portuguese mud. No beating around the bush, let’s get straight to the point: here are all the results and standings that matter.
The spectacular setting of the Palacio Municipal de Deportes San Pablo in Seville hosted the 2026 edition of the X-Trial Des Nations. In one of the season’s most technical indoor events, Beta’s factory riders shone, leading their respective nations to the podium.
An extraordinary performance by Harry Hemingway, the standout rider in the Great Britain jersey. The young talent displayed impressive technical maturity, leading his team to a silver medal (the best result for the British since 2017). “We rode brilliantly in the final, finishing with a result that Great Britain hadn’t achieved in years,” commented an enthusiastic Hemingway.
Joining him on the world podium was Italy, guided by the ever-reliable Matteo Grattarola. The experienced rider conquered the Spanish tracks with his usual determination: “I’m definitely happy with how I rode and with the feel of the bike in such a competitive field.”
Just off the podium was France’s Hugo Dufrese, who finished in fourth place after paying the price for some mistakes in the opening rounds that cost him a spot in the final.
The Italian Pro-Prestige Motocross Championship kicked off at the Ottobiano (PV) track. For the Beta MRT Racing Team, all eyes were on Rick Elzinga’s return to competition. After a long injury layoff, the Dutch rider handled his comeback with great composure, finishing Race 1 of the MX1 class in 13th place overall (11th in the Elite category).
In the MX2 class, French rider Alexis Fueri delivered an excellent performance, confirming his strong form with a solid, flawless race, finishing 7th overall and in the category.
The Ottobiano round was also crucial for technical development: official Beta test riders Francesco Bassi (3rd in the Fast class in Race 1) and Tommaso Isdraele (13th in Elite) took to the track seated on the RX 250 4T prototype, gathering vital data under real race conditions. The Beta MRT Racing Team now looks ahead to its next event in Spain, March 20–22.
The Las Arenas circuit in Malpartida de Cáceres hosted the second round of the Spanish MX Elite Championship.
It was a bittersweet weekend for the Beta Trueba MX Racing Team, marked by crashes but faced with great resilience.
In MX1, Carlos Abel Peinado (on an RX 350 2T) was the victim of a crash in qualifying that forced him to sit out Race 1 for medical evaluation. Bravely returning to the track on Sunday, he gritted his teeth to finish 12th in Race 2.
In MX2, Alejo Peral López (on an RX 250 2T) got off to the best possible start with an excellent 3rd place in the qualifying heat. Unfortunately, the official races proved challenging: a crash ruined his start in Race 1 (which he still finished in 9th place), while in Race 2 a double slide relegated him to 12th position. Peral López also competed in the ELF SuperSprint MX, being eliminated while battling for the Top 10 on a track that had become heavily rutted.
The team will return to action in mid-May at Alhama de Murcia.
Mud and adverse weather did not stop the Moto Espinha/Beta Portugal team during the second round of the National Enduro Championship in Viana do Castelo (the first two-day race of the season). The Beta riders achieved excellent results:
• Lucas Espinha (RR Race 125) dominated the competition, winning both the Green 1 class and the Youth Cup on both days and maintaining his overall lead in the Green class.
• Salvador Sampaio (RR Race 125) rounded out the youth success with an excellent 2nd place in Green 1 and the Youth Cup.
• Important podium finishes also went to Gonçalo Maria (2nd in the Open class on an RR Race 250), the experienced Tony Carvalho (2nd in Super Veterans on an RR Race 350), and Hugo Silva (3rd in Promotion on an RR Race 250). The next round of the National Enduro Championship is scheduled for April 19 in Armamar.
In conjunction with the championship race, Viana do Castelo hosted the highly anticipated first round of the 2026 Beta Portugal Trophy. The country’s most vibrant and well-attended single-brand series saw Beta motorcycles reign supreme, despite weather conditions making the race extremely tough for many participants.
The Moto Espinha/Beta Portugal team ensured perfect conditions and fantastic prizes for the Top 5 in each category.
In the 2T class, last year’s winner Lucas Espinha (RR Race 125) secured the top step of the podium, followed by Salvador Sampaio (RR Race 125) and Francisco Soares (RR Race 250).
In the 4T class, victory went to veteran Tony Carvalho (RR Race 350), followed by Tozé Capitão (RR Race 390).
The strong presence of Beta motorcycles and the competitive spirit on display in Viana do Castelo confirm the growing success of this Trophy. Next round: May 17 in Figueira da Foz.
