Race debut for the Beta RX 250 4T prototype
Beta is pleased to officially present the first images in action of the new RX 250 4T My 2027 prototype, the future star of the motocross range for next season.
After months of development and numerous work sessions, the project has reached an advanced stage, allowing it to make its track debut at the second round of the Internazionali d’Italia MX in Mantua, ridden by one of Beta’s official test riders. The new engine, a 250 cc 4-stroke completely designed and developed in Rignano sull’Arno, represents a fundamental step in the technical evolution of the manufacturer.
The future RX 250 4T is the result of an intensive development programme that included testing on countless tracks and in all conditions to verify its performance, reliability and dynamic response, and is now being taken to a real race as a further test bench.
The new engine adopts a DOHC configuration with the chain positioned on the right side. This is a different configuration from the 450 RX unit currently in the range, which uses the chain on the opposite side.
The work on the new frame is equally significant: as can be seen from the images of the RX 250 4-stroke, engine connections on the side are being tested. This engineering choice is aimed at achieving innovative dynamic behaviour, the result of a completely redesigned engine-frame relationship.
Most people will have noticed the compactness of the engine block between the crankshaft, primary and secondary: a fundamental feature for optimising mass centralisation and improving rideability. Other distinctive features include the starter package located on the left side, the presence of a dedicated cooling circuit and a redesigned lubrication system with a new oil pump and oil filter position.
Of course, many components are still being finalised, and these race tests will confirm whether or not they will be used on the final bike. The goal is to continue gathering data and feedback from the riders in order to reach the final tuning phase in the coming months.
