Watson back on the EnduroGP podium, MRT battles mud and rain in Portuguese MXGP

From the treacherous Portuguese mud of Águeda to the technical rocks of Sklenka, passing through the dusty Catalan special tests—Beta’s weekend unfolded in a breathless sequence of action, with teams competing in EnduroGP, MXGP, the Open World Cup, and national Trial events.
Solid performances, key placements, and young talents on the rise: here’s how it went down.

MXGP – Portuguese GP (Round 7)

Águeda, Portugal | Watson 17th Overall – Koch 17th Overall
A demanding weekend for the MRT Racing Team Beta Factory, which faced extreme weather in Round 7 of the 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship. The Portuguese track—already technical by nature—became even more challenging with heavy rain and deep mud, putting bikes and riders to the test.
Ben Watson finished 14th in Race 1. In Race 2, he got off to a strong start and climbed to 10th in the early laps before a rear wheel issue forced him to stop. He still managed to finish 18th and 17th overall for the day.

“Qualifying was tough, but in Race 2 the feeling was good. It’s a shame about the issue, but I kept pushing.” – Ben Watson
It was also a tough weekend for Tom Koch, who was forced to retire from Race 1. He bounced back in Race 2 with a strong 15th place, matching Watson in 17th overall.

“Extremely difficult conditions. Thanks to the team for the hard work—every point counts.” – Tom Koch
Next stop: Spanish GP – Lugo, May 10–11

EnduroGP – Spanish GP (Round 2)

Oliana, Catalonia | Nathan Watson 3rd/2nd E2 – 8th/6th EnduroGP

The Beta Factory Enduro Team tackled the second round of the season on the technical Oliana course: 55 km loops, repeated three times per day, featuring fast and punishing special tests made even more challenging by Sunday’s heavy rain.
Nathan Watson, the team’s sole official rider at the event (with Brad Freeman absent due to injury), finished 3rd in E2 and 8th overall on Saturday despite a few mistakes. On Sunday, he raised the pace, winning three Cross Tests and claiming 2nd in E2 along with 6th overall.
“Saturday didn’t start great, but I found a better feeling on Sunday and I’m happy with the result.” – Nathan Watson
Great performances also came from the juniors. Leo Joyon impressed with a 3rd and 1st in Junior 1, along with a 4th and 2nd in the overall Junior standings. Clement Clauzier was solid with 5th/4th in Junior 1, while Maxime Clauzier took 3rd in Junior 2 on Sunday. Matej Skuta narrowly missed the podium after a strong showing, and Diego Haution was consistent with two 5th-place finishes.

Next round: Swedish GP – Skövde, May 23–25

Open World Cup

Oliana, Spain | Tim Apolle 4th Overall

A standout weekend for Tim Apolle, who impressed in the Spanish round of the Open World Cup held alongside the EnduroGP.

After a brilliant Super Test performance, finishing 2nd, Apolle kept up the pace over two rainy, slippery days of racing.

Despite a few small mistakes, he finished 4th overall—just seconds away from the podium—once again proving his international caliber.

Next round: Sweden, in three weeks.

Czech Trial Championship – Sklenka

Sklenka, Czech Republic | David Fabián jnr. – 1st & 2nd (TR1), 1st in Junior

A strong weekend for David Fabián jnr. at the Czech Trial Championship round in Sklenka. Riding his Beta Factory 300, the young rider tackled a course mixing natural and artificial elements, including jumps and technical stone sections.

In the TR1 category, he won Saturday’s race and finished 2nd on Sunday. In the Junior category, he claimed back-to-back victories.

Up next: a world challenge in Japan for the next TrialGP round.
